Surgical technologists are often referred to as “the surgeon’s right hand” because of the vital role they play during the surgical procedure. The Surgical Technology program educates students who become highly trained medical professionals who create and maintain the sterile field in which all surgical procedures are performed. In addition, surgical technologists assist surgeons by providing all necessary instruments and equipment, as well as stabilizing retraction devices and providing exposure in order for the surgeon to safely perform surgeries.
GNTC’s Program Pathways can be used as advising guides or maps to help determine which courses they need to take and when to take them. By following the course of study outlined in the specific degree, diploma or certificate pathway, GNTC students will know the necessary prerequisite courses they need to continue in the chosen program of study.
